Most Commonly Asked Questions

“I don’t live near your office—can we still work together?”

Definitely. Most of our clients are fully remote. We use secure digital tools for uploading documents, e-signatures, meetings, and delivery—so you can work with us from anywhere in the U.S.

“What documents will I need to send you?”

Once you're onboarded, we’ll send you a personalized checklist based on your situation. That usually includes W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, prior returns, business financials, and anything related to real estate, investments, or crypto.

“How long does it take to get my return done?”

Once we have all your documents, most returns are completed in around 2 weeks. If anything is missing or your return is more complex, we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

“What if I’m behind on my bookkeeping or don’t have clean financials?”

No problem. We help a lot of clients with cleanup or catch-up work. We’ll review what’s needed and either include it in your project or quote it separately if it’s more involved.

“Do you offer tax planning, or is this just preparation?”

We offer both, but they’re separate services. Tax prep is about filing your return. Tax planning is about proactively reducing what you owe going forward. If you're interested in strategy, we can walk you through our planning process (INSERT TAX PLANNING LINK.)

How It Works

Simple, secure, and designed around your life.

We’ve streamlined the entire process to save you time and reduce stress. Here’s what you can expect when working with us:

  • Let’s talk. In a short discovery call, we’ll learn more about your situation, outline what kind of return you need, and confirm pricing. If we’re a good fit, we’ll send a proposal and get you on our calendar.

  • Once you sign your engagement letter, you’ll place a $500 deposit to hold your place in our tax season schedule. That deposit is applied to your final invoice and gives you access to our team for questions before filing begins.

  • You’ll receive a link to the LighthouseAPP, our secure client portal, and a personalized checklist with everything we need—W-2s, 1099s, business financials, prior-year returns, and more. Upload at your own pace; we even have reminders built in.

  • Once your file is complete, we’ll begin preparing your return. Most returns are finished within 2 weeks, depending on complexity. We’ll keep you in the loop throughout the process and reach out with any questions or opportunities we spot.

  • When your return is ready, we’ll schedule a final review call (if needed) or send you a detailed summary via email. Once approved, we’ll handle e-filing and provide a copy for your records.

    • Full payment is due when prep begins (or you can do 50% now, 50% at delivery).

    • Returns are filed promptly after payment and signature.

    • You’ll receive confirmation from the IRS and a downloadable PDF copy for your records.

Need help after filing? We’re available year-round for questions, adjustments, or tax planning next steps.

Let’s see if we’re a fit—and what it would look like to have this off your plate.
